A Guide to Pet Friendly Caravan Parks in Batemans Bay

Windsor-Blog-Post-Image-Template-(3).jpg

Lying smack-bang between Sydney and Canberra in the Eurobodalla region, Batemans Bay is an ideal spot for a caravanning getaway. The region boasts amazing wildlife, magnificent beaches, fresh seafood, and lots of water sports to enjoy in the ocean and in the Clyde River. Whether it’s just you and your best (furry) friend on a road trip, or the whole tribe and a plethora of caravan essentials on a bay-hopping adventure, here are our top 6 picks for pet friendly caravan parks in Batemans Bay.

1. Pleasurelea Tourist Resort

Pleasurelea Tourist Resort is located directly opposite picturesque Sunshine Bay just minutes from Batemans Bay. Sunshine Bay is a 300 m wide semi-circular bay between two round headlands. Here you can swim, surf, and fish off the entrance wall into the Clyde River. Bird whistles, friendly kangaroos, and the scent of eucalyptus will welcome you and inspire you to explore the resort’s idyllic surroundings. In terms of pet friendly caravan parks in Batemans Bay NSW, the resort has pet-friendly camping sites and a cabin called K9 for those who want to ditch the caravan during the low season.

Fur parent facilities: include a heated swimming pool, BBQ areas, a grassed tennis court, free Wi-Fi, a camp kitchen, and their licensed Scrumptious restaurant.

Address: 483 Beach Road, Sunshine Bay

2. BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Merry Beach

At this Merry Beach location, you’ll wake to the sounds of waves thudding onto the nearby shores. Merry Beach is also a great location for coastal walks, fishermen, and those keen to spot views of dolphins from the prominent O’Hara Headland on the northern end of the beach. Ingenia Holidays Merry Beach has dog-friendly sites including ensuite, powered and unpowered sites on the beachfront or with beach views. It also has eastern grey kangaroos that gather around the park at dawn and dusk to say a quick hello.

Fur parent facilities: include resort-style pool, a skatepark, a camp kitchen, and laundry facilities.

Address: 46 Merry Beach Road, Kioloa

3. NRMA Batemans Bay Beach Resort

Overlooking Corrigans Beach (ideal for those not keen on big waves), you can be as social or secluded as you like at the sprawling Batemans Bay Beach Resort, which is set amongst groves of trees. Watch a beautiful sunset as you do a little koala spotting, as your day tomorrow. A trip to a wildlife park, a coastal hike or a feast on freshly shucked Clive River oysters? The choice is yours. If you’re after a Batemans Bay caravan park that’s dog friendly, this is your go-to with its welcoming powered and unpowered caravan sites.

Fur parent facilities: Includes a resort-style swimming pool, tennis, mini golf, a playground, and BBQ facilities at the camp kitchen.

Address: 51 Beach Rd, Batehaven

4. BIG4 Nelligen Holiday Park

The sounds of splashing water are constant at the Nelligen Holiday Park, which has dog-friendly sites by a meandering creek. Set on the banks of the Clyde River, it’s a true paradise for water lovers, offering access to pristine waterways for swimming, fishing, and watersports. During whale-watching season, grab the binoculars and see if you can spot one of these majestic creatures motoring up the humpback highway!

Fur parent facilities: include a camp kitchen, a boat ramp, a sparkling resort pool, paved walking trails, and for the kids, outdoor movies, mini golf, tennis courts, a games room, and free canoe and go-kart hire.

Address: 970 Kings Hwy, Nelligen

5. BIG4 South Durras Holiday Park

Located 15 km north of Bateman’s Bay, South Durras Holiday Park is close to Durras Main Beach and surrounded by Murramarang National Park. Divided into two parts due to the mouth of Durras Lake, Durras Beach is a long, vast stretch of sand that is good for swimming, surfing, fishing, and long walks. In terms of dog friendly caravan parks in Batemans Bay, you will need to request approval from management, but generally, well-behaved dogs are welcome on designated sites.

Fur parent facilities: include free gas BBQs, a coffee and snack machine, a book/video library, and a camp kitchen.

Address: 9 Beagle Bay Road, South Durras

6. Batemans Bay Holiday Park

There’s no need to unhook the caravan at the Batemans Bay Holiday Park, as it’s an easy one-kilometre walk into town. The paths and trails that lead around the park blend into the landscape, providing lots of opportunities for wildlife spotting. Most of the powered and unpowered sites are dog-friendly—just check with management when you book.

Fur parent facilities: include free Wi-Fi, a BBQ area, a swimming pool, camp kitchen, laundry, kiosk, and a kids’ playground.

Address: 49 Old Princes Highway, Batemans Bay

Dog-friendly beaches

If you’re looking for a Batemans Bay caravan park that's pet friendly, you’ll be thrilled to know the area also has a number of beaches that allow doggos. Here are our favourite year-round off-leash beaches from north to south.

Durras Main Beach

This is a lovely stretch of beach for off-leash frolics. The dog-friendly section stretches south of the caravan park, north to the headland.

Sunshine Bay Beach

About 5 km south of Batemans Bay, this tranquil beach is small but big enough for some off-leash explorations and a calming swim.

Wimbie Beach

Located only 10 minutes from Batemans Bay, this gorgeous beach is safely removed from the road. Dogs are also allowed off-leash on the adjacent headland and the reserve.

Tomaga River Beach

The off-leash area extends to the river and the ocean beach on either side of the long spit. Park near the boat ramp and choose between the two, or walk all the way around the spit.

Broulee Beach

This is a lovely wide beach, especially at low tide. Dogs are allowed in between the nature reserve around Broulee Island (although not on the island), and the Frances Street access point.

Bengello Beach

This is one of the biggest off-leash beaches around Batemans Bay, and it stretches over 6km! Dogs are allowed from McNee Street south to the North Head campground.

Dog-friendly reserves

As well as being allowed off-leash at many beaches, there are also three reserves around Batemans Bay where dogs are allowed off-leash. They include:

● The grass reserve in Nelligen (next to the tennis courts).

● Mossy Point's Tomaga River Reserve, on the southern side of the Tomaga River.

● Ryans Creek Reserve in Moruya, east of Riverside Park. Explore Batemans Bay’s pet-friendly parks in your new caravan! Contact our expert team today.
